I have started to make the portrait less and less literal by simplifying it and making it into a silhouette. The coloured wavey lines reflect the positive singing very well and contrast well with the black cage and figure, creating a good focal point.I do however feel the composition isn't as successful as the cage looks like it is floating on Maya's head. I guess you could also say that the singing is lifting the cage up?
I think I need to start thinking about changing the composition so either the cage is drawn from a different angle or I scrap the cage completely and use something else to represent the cage.
